【Focused Conversation Method】A method to categorize conversations into four levels of communication to facilitate dialogs and understanding of each other’s viewpoints

Through learning and practice of facilitation, Titansoft believes that the Focused Conversation Method is the closest to people's natural way of thinking. So, the Method is used as the common language and a tool to facilitate dialogue in the daily work.

The Focused Conversation Method (ORID) is a form of reflection or discussion that taps into people's natural thinking processes. It was created by Joseph Mathews utilizing the concept of art appreciation and is commonly used in our daily work conversations to facilitate the exchange of each other's perspectives. ORID means:

Objective: the external, objective facts.
Reflective: the reflection of one's feelings.
Interpretive: meaning or experience derived from the previous two levels. Decisional: the conclusion or action derived from the previous three levels.

When applying Focused Conversation Method, the focus of the discussion should be specified first, and then questions at each of the four levels of ORID can be designed to facilitate a meaningful discussion.

Knowing the importance of effective team communication, Titansoft lists ORID as a mandatory course training for all employees with the help of ICA Taiwan. And it is often used in Retro meetings or daily discussions.
